SOLO Wilderness First Aid

wfa_med.gifThe Boston Chapter requires all it's H/B Leaders to be certified in Wilderness First Aid. SOLO WFA is designed for outdoor enthusiasts who may find themselves far from immediate medical care, and need to rely on their own skills to survive and thrive if an emergency arrises. This 2-day course teaches the basics of backcountry first aid, including building leg and arm splints, caring for wounds, and recognizing & managing common medical problems, along with rare life-threatening emergencies. Most importantly, WFA teaches how to prevent such issues from occuring on a backcountry trip. To read more about the SOLO WFA course, visit the SOLO website.

H/B sponsors WFA classes in the fall and spring. If you can't make one of the H/B sponsored classes,  SOLO has an long list of classes taking place throughout the New England area and at many AMC facilities. View a full schedule of all upcoming SOLO WFA classes.

Boston Chapter H/B leaders and co-leaders may apply for SOLO WFA training reimbursment.
